If you're in the market for a dethatcher, I would highly recommend the DR40.
Bought last spring and 100% pleased with this machine.
Does a great job pulling dead grass and debris from the lawn.
Great for prepping lawn before overseeding leading to seed to soil contact which is the key to germination.
Also helps water and fertilizer get to the roots of your grass.
Ordering process was seamless and shipping was clear and accurate with email updates.
As another reviewer wrote, don't bother with the bag attachment.
Just hold the rear flap open partially (bungee cord etc) when using machine.
I was looking for a more economical solution than buying a commercial machine that are ten times the cost of the DR40.
The secondary rotor (slicing blades) that the unit comes with is great for creating grooves in the lawn for seed to fall into.
Lastly, operation of the DR40 is excellent. Starts first pull and is a breeze to zip around the lawn as it is so light.

Excellent machine for the money. Starts first pull and runs perfect. Do not use bag. I use a small bungee cord to lift back metal discharge gate an in or two which allows debris to escape. I’m a happy customer
